Mit dieser Auszeichnung würdigt die Optica Foundation herausragende Leistungen sowie das Potenzial zukünftiger Führungspersönlichkeiten in Wissenschaft und Technologie.
"I have known that I wanted to specialize in ultrafast laser physics since before beginning my Master’s, and I applied for this award to accelerate my work and connect with a global network of experts. The application process involved detailing my knowledge and past experience in ultrafast laser technology, non-linear optics, my research interest, and my potential for future contributions to the field. Special thanks are extended to Prof.Bickel; as the field of ultrafast lasers is highly specialized and unique within the OTH research context, his guidance and the picosecond laser facilities in his laboratory allowed me to conduct the independent research that supported my application. It is a true honor to be selected by OPTICA as one of this year's 20 scholars, and I am incredibly grateful for the support this prize provides as I conduct my master thesis at DESY."
A student from the MEM master’s program has been awarded the prestigious “Optica Women Scholars Award 2026.” The award is granted by the Optica Foundation that supports students and early-career researchers worldwide in the fields of optics and photonics.
The awardee, Ms. Jia Yi Lian is currently completing her external master’s thesis at DESY in Hamburg under the supervision of Prof. Schreiner and Prof. Bickel.
This award recognizes outstanding achievements and highlights the potential of future leaders in science and technology.
